Search, Shop, Sell, with Shopit on AIM

Monday, June 16th, 2008

mashableWith online networks and a plethora of desktop applications connecting people across the world, there’s no reason why online store can’t be better integrated into all of these platforms. That’s what Shopit thinks, at least. Given the freedom for communication that the web has allowed, the ability to build on such freedom has allowed for the growth of web-based banking, dating, and shopping. It’s expected for these forms of communication and commerce to want to go where the people are. It’s the nature of the beast, and a catalyst for the ideal meeting of supply and demand.[ Read More ]

Hayden Panettiere Sells Shirt Off Her Back

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Written on May 27th 2008 Author by Kathleen of Adotas

ADOTAS – Creepy stalkers rejoice: Hayden Panettiere is selling off items in her wardrobe for charity. The star on NBC’s Heroes, has announced a partnership with social computing site Zude and peer-to-peer social commerce marketplace Shopit to sell some of her favorite clothes in a bid to raise money and awareness for the “Save The Whales Again!” foundation.

Panettiere joins a star-studded board of spokespeople – including Pierce Brosnan, Isabel Lucas and Keely Shaye Smith – created to draw attention to the industrial killing of whales and dolphins.

Some of her wardrobe items on the block: a Dooney & Bourke handbag and an Alice + Olivia pleated black and white dress that she wore to the premiere of It’s a Mall World.

The items can be found here.

Panettiere joined Zude earlier this year to launch Fanbase – a feature that allows Zude users to build fan sites and gives them exclusive access to images, videos and music. Zude users who are members of her Fanbase can visit her home page and click on the Panettiere Closet storefront widget to embed it in their sites.

Shopit marries commerce and social networking; users can build widgets, upload items and list them for sale.

Hayden Panettiere, star of NBC’s Heroes and whale lover, has signed an endorsement deal with social site Zude and Shopit to sell clothes and raise money for Save the Whales Again, a Whaleman Foundation and Animal Welfare Institute campaign to “create awareness about the industrial slaughter of whales and dolphins.”

The effort is getting added awareness with promotional placement on the homepage of eBay which points to a branded eBay page for Save the Whales Again.

As part of the promotion, an auction is being held to raise money with the winning bid (bidder plus five friends) getting tickets to a celebrity fundraiser held at Eva Longoria’s Beso restaurant and a whale watching tour with Hayden in the Channel Islands.
