Who’s Who of Shopit: Rhett McNulty

I’ve had a hard time deciding what to write about this man of mystery. What to say? Where to begin? At the ripe old age of 30, Rhett has lived more life than most 80 year olds I know. So we’re gonna take this one movie trailer style; just highlighting the fun stuff.

Where it all began… An 18 yr. old Rhett started his internet career at Shopping.com. Sound familiar? That’s because I wrote the same thing about our CEO Matt Hill! Founding Shopit was not their first encounter. These guys have been bonded by business endeavors and friendship for quite some time. Onto the fun stuff! Here’s a brief insight to the highlights of this man, our COO, Rhett McNulty:
——————————————————————————————————-
Accomplishments: (Reasons we think he’s special)

-Visited his 50th country before the age of 30!

-Worked on Tsunami Relief in Thailand & Malaysia with members of ServiceforPeace.org and WavesofMercy to clean up, rebuild and restart lives.

-Started Shopit of course; which he envisions as the control panel for your entire peer to peer commerce experience in social communities and more.

-Lived on a boat for close to year, sailing from Thailand to Spain. Rhett has compared this experience to starting an internet company; you’re constantly being tested by outside elements that are beyond your control.

Goals: (His next adventures)

-Start Writing his own Book! (something along the lines of adventures in travel and business)

-Get more involved in Water Sanitation Initiatives (inspired by his surfing days, obviously… he grew up between Palos Verdes and Orange County!)

-okay he’s serious about this next one… Living on a deserted island with at least one palm tree, and being able to live off rice and his daily seafood catches.

-Have someone in his life who will always make him sandwiches :) ladies- no ring on his finger yet…

Favorite Things:

-His Extensive Sand Collection

-The Global Leadership Program. This program Rhett participates in, helps to inspire student leaders to develop spiritually, morally and socially. Leadership seminars connect youth leaders to each other, to colleges and to adult leaders in the community, in the nation, and around the globe.

-Fighting Pirates

-Messages in Bottles (while out on the coean, he started a game called the ‘Indian Ocean Lottery’ with messsages in bottles. One bottle has turned up, found by a 6 yr old boy in Maldives, only 14 more to be discovered!)

-Rooftops

-Prepaid Debit Cards- an exciting idea Rhett has ventured upon…an alternative payroll platform that streamlines employer’s payroll costs; while helping the ‘underbanked’ employee gain access to more payment options, security, and the ability to build credit.

I could go on and on, however this tailor could very easily turn in to a full length feature film. To sum it up: Rhett truly is a guy who knows how to work hard and play hard. To quote from his favorite movie, Shawshank Redemption, ~ “All I ask is three beers apiece for each of my co-workers…I think a man workin’ outdoors feels more like a man if he can have a bottle of suds. That’s only my opinion.”

(speaking of, where are ours?)
