Our favorite thing this week? A Shopit store supporting charities!!! Some of our users have taken the initiative to promote their favorite charities by donating a portion of their profits to them or asking you to simply donate directly to the organization. The Shopit team loves seeing users being proactive and offering up their talents for humanity!
Our favorite store this week popped onto our radar a few months ago. Delaney’s Room is run by Melanie, a proactive Shopit user who even has a voice message saying hello to her shoppers! Melanie makes handcrafted jewelry and has created five pieces specially to raise awareness for a number of organizations including MADD, DARE, AIDS/HIV, Heart Disease, Cancer, Support Our Troops, and Missing Children. Her bracelets are beautiful and carefully made, with small beads representing the cause you’re supporting! $5 of each sale goes directly to the specified cause. Onto the specifics.
Why we like it!
- Melanie does a great job of explaining her store, is clear about what you can expect to see and what to look forward to, and offers great customer service even before you order anything! With her voice message application you can leave her a voicemail in addition to sending a standard message, and it’s a simple, short greeting similar to what you’d get if you had actually walked into a store.
- Her handcrafted jewelry is beautiful, unique, and affordable (which is great because we’ve all been reading the financial news!).
- She took care to make her store look great, her background isn’t distracting, her pictures are sharp, and her descriptions are clear and specific.
Why we LOVE it!
- Melanie has truly taken advantage of what Shopit has to offer. She’s used every available space to market herself and her product, yet kept it clean and easy to follow.
- She’s giving 30% of the purchase price of her jewelry for a cause to the selected causes! Not 1% or 10%, and the prices are still incredibly reasonable making it easy to get a great accessory and help out at the same time!
- Not only is she selling her wares, she has a service listed at the bottom, you can request an “Internet Ear”. She’ll be there for you to talk to, offer advice, etc. Maybe she’ll tell you how to catch our eye!
Melanie’s not the only one on Shopit trying to support great causes, she’s simply an incredible example of how easy it is to support your favorite organization on Shopit. We’re free, so you’re not paying for a service to collect donations, and our numerous payment options make it easy for absolutely anyone to contribute! It’s as simple as creating a product, explaining why you’re asking for donations, and having proof that you’re contributing to the organizations you say you are. (Melanie offers verification!).
