We like to think Shopit and Facebook are the perfect couple; like an A- List celeb, Brangelina, type couple! And we’re glad we have some supporters who agree! A recent article written by BuildaSkill; a community for home-based businesses, referenced us in their thoughts about how Facebook could replace eBay as a sales channel for its users. We couldn’t agree more.
There has been a drastic shift in Facebook’s demographic over the last year. Oldies but goodies! (goodies are the ones who shop, and buy… buying is key in making money!) Users are migrating from other platforms, such as eBay, and taking advantage of the social and viral aspects of new networks. Now there’s an entirely new marketing segment to target.
We also love the article that inspired BuildaSkill’s write up: E-Commerce Marketing on Facebook By Vangie Beal, featured on ecommerce-guide.com. Vangie points out that the average time a user spends on Facebook is 21 minutes a day. That’s 21 minutes of browsing through the news feed, being inundated with what their friends are doing, and 21 minutes they happen to come across your page/group/advertisement. Facebook is becoming the ultimate social platform and whatever is on this platform is getting a free ride on the popularity train! It’s like being one of Brangelina’s kids. You’re fantastic in your own right, but when partnered with the A-list couple you’re instantly the coolest kid on the block. Think about it.
